There are 2 airports in the US Virgin Islands. The Cyril E. King Airport (CEKA) is located on St Thomas, and the Henry E. Rohlsen International Airport (HERA) is located on St Croix. A ferry boat from St Thomas provides access to both St John and Water Island.

Transport On & Between The US Virgin Islands
Travel between the individual US Virgin Islands is easily accomplished. The ferry from St Thomas to Water Island takes about 10 minutes, and St John and St Thomas are a 20 minute ferry trip apart. A small plane or helicopter flight between St Croix and St Thomas takes about 25 minutes, or the waterborne ´fast ferry´ takes about 75 minutes.
The US Virgin Islands offer a convenient bus service, and taxis are readily available on St Croix, St Thomas, and St John - with rates based on destination rather than mileage. Car and 4-wheel drive rentals are also popular and available at the airports and hotels. The major car rental companies and local companies compete to maintain reasonable prices.

Overall, the US Virgin Islands offer significantly more land area than their close neighbors the British Virgin Islands. St Croix is about 28 miles long and 6 miles wide, covering about 82 sq miles. St Thomas is about 13 miles long by 4 miles wide covering about 31 sq miles. St John is about 7 miles long by 3 miles wide covering about 20 sq miles. Water Island is a little over 2 miles long by about 1 mile wide covering less than 500 acres.
